Bed Maki

Designed by Simone Bonanni for Carpanese Home, Maki is a sculptural bed that contrasts the softness of its upholstered forms with the defined geometry of its wooden components. The softness of the fabric-covered headboard and bed frame is contrasted by the precision of the solid wood base that gently raises the structure off the ground. This is complemented by an upholstered base that extends slightly beyond the mattress and headboard, with the additional perimeter frame redefining the space designated for rest. The contrasting elements, materials, and finishes mirror the designer’s approach, which is increasingly focused on the graphic refinement and stylisation of simple shapes.
