upholstered chair Bill

Designed by Simone Bonanni for Carpanese, Bill is an upholstered chair born from the idea of reducing visible structural elements favouring abstract and sculptural forms to celebrate the balance of the few volumes that compose it: the swivel conical base, the rounded seat and the vertically “cut” backrest that makes Bill a statement piece. Drawing inspiration from the work of sculptor and performance artist Bill Dan, whose temporary sculptures dare seemingly impossible balances by stacking stones and rough rocks on top of each other, Bill plays with the concept of balance, delving into new forms of interaction between solid and void elements, between materiality and space, and between texture and contrasting surfaces as in the swivel base available in wood or lacquer, or upholstered in fabric or leather.
